Landowners wishing to  have land considered for allocation in the Neighbourhood Plan

As a Parish Council, we have chosen to write a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for our area so that planning decisions have to be made in accordance with the plan.

The neighbourhood plan cannot cover strategic issues, for example infrastructuere or major development, but can guide local issues. For example the plan should be able to say which important green spaces will be protected, or could identify sites that are appropriate for small affordable housing development.

Our plan has to conform with 'the strategic priorities' of The South Cambridgeshire Local Plan that was adopted on 27 September 2018, but in planning decisions, if there is a conflict between a neighbourhood policy and a non-strategic local policy, the neighbourhood policy will take precedence.
The key steps in the process are:
  1. Approval to undertake the plan (complete)
  2. Approval and community notification to undertake the plan (complete)
  3. Establish a steering committee and working groups  (complete)
  4. Background information: The policies and recommendations in the plan will be evidence based. This process will involve looking at the parish past, current and future to build a picture of where we have been, where we are now and where we are likely to be in the future (underway)
  5. Gathering the views of the community: The most critical part of the plan; engaging the community through surveys, attendance at events and workshops and finally, the Referendum  (underway)
  6. Preparing the draft plan  (future)
  7. Consultation and submission of draft Plan (Regulation 14) (future)
  8. Independent Examination (future)
  9. Final Stage Referendum (future)
